Pro Bono Counseling Program

At Crespo Mental Health, we believe that financial circumstances should not prevent someone from receiving meaningful mental health support. Through our Pro Bono Counseling Program, we offer no-cost counseling services to individuals who may otherwise have difficulty accessing care because they are uninsured, underinsured, or facing significant out-of-pocket costs.

Our practice was founded on the belief that everyone can benefit from opportunities for growth, healing, and greater emotional well-being. Expanding access to quality mental health care is an important part of that mission.

Who Provides the Counseling?

Clients participating in our Pro Bono Counseling Program are matched with a master’s-level counselor-in-training who is completing advanced graduate education and supervised clinical experience.

Counselors-in-training provide services under clinical supervision and receive ongoing guidance, consultation, and oversight from experienced licensed mental health professionals. This allows clients to receive thoughtful, ethical, and high-quality care while their counselor continues to develop professionally.

Is the Program Right for Me?

This program may be appropriate for individuals who would like counseling but are unable to afford traditional private-pay services or who have limited access to mental health coverage.

Availability is limited and depends on counselor availability, current caseloads, and whether the program is clinically appropriate for your needs.

What to Expect

Because counselors-in-training are completing supervised educational placements, their time with Crespo Mental Health may be limited. When possible, clients will be informed in advance of any transition, and appropriate options for continued care will be discussed.

Clients participating in the program are also expected to attend scheduled sessions consistently and communicate regarding cancellations or scheduling concerns. Repeated missed appointments, frequent late cancellations, prolonged lack of contact, or other circumstances that interfere with treatment may result in reevaluation of participation in the program.

Counselors-in-training receive regular clinical supervision. In some cases, they may ask for permission to have a session recorded or observed for training and supervision purposes. Recording or observation will not occur without the client’s consent.

Getting Started

If you are interested in participating in our Pro Bono Counseling Program, please contact Crespo Mental Health to learn more about current availability, eligibility, and next steps.

Because space in the program is limited and participation depends on counselor availability and clinical appropriateness, enrollment is determined on an individual basis.
